We Can’t Stop

My lovely friend from Buffalo, Matt, decided to grace me with his presence this past weekend. He’s half Filipino (and single fellas, wiiiiink.), which meant my mother stuffed him full with as much home cooked Filipino food as possible. When my mother was plotting how to adopt Matt and send me to a planet far far away wasn’t trying to feed us until we died of delicious-ness, I took him to all of my favorite places to eat and drink. Honestly, if you’re ever in Syracuse get a hold of me. I absolutely love showing people around! I should start my own Syracuse tour full of historical facts, yummy trendy places, and sass.

The first place I took him to was Roji. We shared cupcakes and onigiri while sippin’ on some boba.

By some divine miracle, all of my best friends from high school came home to visit as well! We all went out for breakfast at B’ville Diner for old times sake. Which is kinda weird considering we only ever ate there past 10pm. Diners are crazy packed in the day time in case anyone was wondering, which helped keep me awake because I probably would’ve fallen asleep face first into my feta and broccoli omelette.

Afterwards, Matt and I dropped by Cafe Kubal to snack on some macarons. I love these tiny cute lil’ things! We got to eat almond, chocolate raspberry, and salted caramel flavored ones. I savored each and every single flavor. If you don’t feel fancy or adorable while eating a macaron, then you’re not eating it correctly.

We were supposed to take pictures at the park…until it decided to downpour all afternoon. Luckily, we were able to visit the Palace Theater. Okay it’s safe to say that Matt is definitely fiercer than me and most people that exist in general.

And then you all have to deal with my derpy self. But that’s why you all keep coming back, right?

Top: H&M

Denim: Mod Cloth

Boots: Aldo

I really wanted to do a beehive or victory curls with this outfit that day, but I’m extremely lazy when it comes to doing anything remotely fancy with my hair. Top knot to the rescue, as always. I’m completely in love with my shirt’s print, I snagged it during one of H&M bogo sales. “I’m really glad that shirt looks better on you than it did on the hanger” said my mother as I was getting ready that day. Sometimes, I know what I’m talking about. Also, I’ve never been more in love with a pair of pants in my life. These high wasted jeans do wonders for me! Anything that makes my little legs look fantastic is definitely a keeper. Excuse me while I slowly convert all of my pants into high wasted pants.

No Syracuse tour, by me at least, is complete until there’s a trip to Sakana Ya. Surprised Matt didn’t die from a sushi coma on half off Monday. This heart shaped number has been one of my new favorites.

The last place I took him to eat was Crepe & Gelato Boulevard for afternoon crepes.

Instagramin’ everything. He got a nutella, strawberry, and whipped cream crepe with a side of strawberry cheesecake gelato.

I decided to switch it up and try out a savory crepe. I had ham, cheese, and egg crepe. Apparently, they cooked it up French style so the egg was a little runny, which I had no problems with whatsoever. Crepe coma multiplied by 10.

Tank top: H&M

Denim: Delia’s

Shoes: Sperry

Necklace: H&M

Watch: Fossil

Purse: Coach

I finally own boat shoes! I was in desperate need of some cute casual shoes. Jonathan got them for me for our 1 year anniversary a few weeks ago. He had to send the first pair back because he didn’t realize just how itty bitty my feet are. After 2 weeks worth of waiting for an itty bittier size, I’ve been wearing them non stop. I’m trying to break them in before our Boston getaway. And pink boat shoes are just the cutest things ever.

Places I wish I got to take him but didn’t have time to:

Dinosaur BBQ

Funk N Waffles

Various bars

And I’m probably still drawing some blanks. It was a blast spending time with his hilarious fierce self, obviously my mother failed at trying to adopt him so he had to go back home. You will all probably see more of him throughout my blog when I make my return to Buffalo in 3 weeks. In the mean time, you’ll just have to deal with my derpy awkward self. Oh the agony.

Get me a vodka rocks, and a piece of toast.

Alright, so season 4 of Arrested Development is out and I’m still only midway through season 3 (I just got into it give me a break sorry). So of course I’m avoiding the social media as much as I possibly can because everyone spoils everything always. We’ll see how long this lasts. Figured I’d get dolled up and do something.

Dramatic hair and skirt blowing in the wind shot, totally unnecessary or totally necessary? I can’t resist skirts that have dramatic flow.

Sweater – Urban Outfitters

Skirt – Target

I’ll probably never leave this cardigan open because the lace is so pretty. I’m usually never a fan of orange, but I’m a fan of chevron. I didn’t think I could pull off the color, actually I’m still not sure if I’m pulling it off. Today I finally realized this skirt has pockets. Alright let’s be honest I can’t fit all of the contents of my purse into two pockets but it’s nice to know I have somewhere to place my hands.

Shoes – Nasty Gal

These kitty loafers are ALMOST purrrfect. They’re a half size big and still a teeny bit loose with terry cloth insoles. But come on they’re LEOPARD PRINT KITTY LOAFERS. If I could have black velvet kitty mary jane wedges I’d probably die.

Backpack – Aldo

Sure it’s totally useless when it comes to lugging around my stuff for school but it’s great for mini trips and adventures as long as I pack light.

My first Roji trip since I’ve been home and I didn’t order a bubble tea. I blame the unusual chilly weather. I got lavender tea and cinnamon cookies instead. Just as lovely. Tea party time with my friend Amberlee helped distract me from the internet for a few hours. Excuse me while I watch Netflix non-stop until I’m all caught up now!

HBD Deliciously Dressed!

Deliciously Dressed is exactly 1 year old today according to the notification WordPress sent me today. Hooray! I bought a cupcake for the occasion, but I’m an awful driver and it doesn’t look cute enough to photograph anymore. It probably still tastes like a cupcake though, thank goodness.

Dress – Delia’s

Shoes – Aldo

Went out to lunch with the boyfriend earlier. It’s been awhile since I had a lunch date that wasn’t on campus so I decided to get spiffy. Plus it’s DD’s birthday so I have to look good right? I swear my hair buns get bigger and bigger with every post.

I’m happy to announce that I finally own my camera and will be taking my own photos from now on! Isn’t that lovely? I’m still getting used to this thing so be patient with me please. I hope to become a MUCH better photographer over time with tons of practice of course.

But yeah, holy shit, this blog’s a year old. I feel like I’ve made some progress and learned a few things. Obviously I’ve gone from iphone mirror shots, to a photographer, to finally being able to take my own pictures. I’m still no where near where I want to be as a blogger but I’m happy I stuck with it for this long. Fully aware my little baby blog isn’t anything huge but I love and appreciate everyone who follows along. It does mean a lot to me. 🙂

Either way, I have a ton of fun doing this. And I hope that  those of you who actually read this blog enjoy it as much as I do. That’s what’s important I suppose. I still have tons to learn and some more plans in store for the future, so hopefully you all still stick around for another year because I secretly hope you all keep coming back for either my outfits and/or because I’m hilarious! xoxo

Casually Casual

This will be my last post before my 10 day Vegas trip! Yes I’m going on vacation while I’m on vacation from school. Vacation-ception!

Went on a casual date with the boyfriend last weekend after a long month of us being sick and on the verge of death.

Shirt: Delia’s

Boots: Aldo

Christmas present from Flo this year! I didn’t need boots like this but I’m pretty glad I have them.

Watch: Fossil

I bought this after my birthday will all of the gift cards I received. I needed one for work because I hate not knowing what time it is. I wish still had the box it came it, they have the cutest tin boxes. This watch literally goes with everything.

Wallet: Michael Kors

One of handful of presents my boyfriend got me for Christmas. It hold plenty and my iphone could even fit in there if I didn’t have a crazy ridiculous case. and it’s in one of my top 3 favorite colors – hot pink. What I like most about this is that it doesn’t have that obnoxious MK print all over it. Seriously every time I see that MK print I read it as “mmkay” like Mr. Mackey from South Park.

We went to Mai Lan Restaurant for some pho. I couldn’t wait for the pho so we got egg rolls. But egg rolls are always a good idea.

I got the pho tai, rice noodle soup with rare beef aka the first item on any pho menu ever. I will always love pho because what other meal can you pay like $5 for and get a big bowl of awesome deliciousness that isn’t sketchy.

The next day I got a pre-vaycay haircut by my usual hair stylist, Crystal at Xquisite Designs. Switched it up a bit and showed her a picture of Beyonce’s bangs because Beyonce is fabulous. But let’s be serious, I show her different celebrities every so often to make me feel like I’m doing something different with my hair. Bangs are my secret weapon…

My mother told me I looked like Where’s Waldo in pastels that day.

Shirt: H&M

I own too many striped shirts. Every time I come home I find one that I left behind.

Jeans: Free People

Boots: Aldo

Got a great deal on both of these! I got lucky and got those pants under $20 and I think I those boots were on sale for $15. My thrifty shopping skills keep getting better with time.

Hat: Forever 21

I thought I lost this floppy knitted hat for good until I realized that my mother borrowed it and never gave it back. Looks like I’ll be taking it back and never letting anyone borrow it ever again.

The boyfriend and I went on a random middle of the week date recently.

Dress: Urban Outfitters

Sweater: Forever 21

Tights: Anthropologie

Boots: Aldo

I’m not sure if this picture does a good job of showing it, but they’re ombre tights. They go from navy to grey. They’re great winter tights, they’re thick and look great with boots. This is also one of the few things I can afford from Anthrpologie. My employee discount just makes everything less expensive but still out of my lame broke college kid price range. Someday I’ll move into an Anthropologie, yes you read that right.

We went to Limp Lizard in Liverpool for some bro food. This place is literally less than 5 mins from my house and I’ve never been until that day. My boyfriend who lives across the lake in Camillus has been here more times than I have. Anyways, I ordered a dozen hot wings which were great. Except for one thing, no matter what I did I could not get the bleu cheese to stick to them! I’ve never ran into such a crazy problem before in my life. It was an outrage, then I remembered I still had a dozen perfectly good wings in front of me. I get over things pretty quickly sometimes.

Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend and his family to the brand new P.F. Chang’s for a pre-birthday dinner kinda thing. I somehow convinced everyone to order my favorite appetizer there, chicken lettuce wraps. My only complaint is that they give you four leaves of lettuce and expect that to feed an entire table of people. I have a small appetite 47% of the time and that’s not even enough for me.

My boyfriend’s mother ordered the bottle of wine. Ignore the suggestive name, because that’s what I did all night. It was a blend of merlot, zinfandel, and cabernet.

I ordered the crab fried rice. Aside from crab it had shitaki mushrooms, asparagus, red peppers, and I think some sriracha. Apparently this is one of their newest items on the menu so I gave it a shot. It was pretty good but a little spicier than I thought it’d be. Pretty sure whatever’s left of it was eaten by my family. *sigh*

And it’s not a true chain restaurant experience without some sort of birthday freebie! The boyfriend and I split that piece of tiramisu. Other than it tasting a little too frozen it was still pretty good.

Comeback Kid

Sorry I mysteriously disappeared everyone! I got all 4 of my wisdom teeth taken out last week. I literally spent the past week in sweat pants eating jello, pudding, and soup while on 3 different types of medications. There was no way in hell I was going to let anyone see my hideous chipmunk cheeks. I know it sounds like it’d be adorable – but it totes wasn’t.

What I Wore:

We’ve been having strange weather lately – sweater weather.

Sweater – H&M

Tank top – H&M

Jeans – Charlotte Russe

Shoes – Aldo

(Holy shit I got the entire outfit in 1 selfie! Good for me.) You guys are well aware of my minty green obsession. And it’s pretty preppy which gets a totes adorbs in my book. I really like pairing it with prints underneath to make it stand out. I don’t normally shop at Charlotte Russe, but one day I wandered in and apparently they were having some crazy $10 denim deal over the course of that hour so I figured hey, why not (YOLOOOO). They fit alright but they’re not the best pair of jeans I’ve ever worn. I’m 4’10” so finding properly fitted bottoms are a complete nightmare for me! Part of the reason why I rarely wear pants…

Glasses – Guess

I wear glasses occasionally. Usually when I’m driving, taking notes in class, or way too lazy to put on eye make up. It’s hard to make out but they have a zebra print detail. I went through a zebra print phase at some point in high school, which is how long I’ve had these frames. I think my next pair should be from Warby Parker. I like having options.

What I ate:

Yes, I’m still unemployed. I probably shouldn’t be hanging out at cafes as often as I do. But I was pretty pumped to be able to go out and about after my hellish week. All of the spots with outlets at Cafe 407 were taken so I decided to claim the entire crazy adorable painted table. I stepped out of my comfort zone a bit and order one of the coffees of the day  – chocolate cinnamon hazelnut. I love all 3 flavors, so I figured what could possibly go wrong? They didn’t leave enough room for milk and they didn’t even have soy milk out as an option – that’s how things went wrong! I made it work like Tim Gunn and added as much sugar and skim milk as I could without overflowing it. Turned out pretty decent.

I can’t resist sweets. Especially cupcakes. I believe this one was a chai tea cupcake with vanilla frosting. It was absolutely delightful. I could’ve devoured it within seconds but I controlled myself. It was moist enough – if there’s one thing I can’t stand it’s a cupcake that’s as dry as a desert. It was pretty sweet and had a little spicy chai kick to it. I need to become BFFs with whoever bakes there!

My mom left for the Philippines about a week ago so my dad’s basically been feeding me Wegmans food. I’m 100% okay with this. Whenever I have a sushi craving but can’t afford to go to a restaurant I usually settle for Weggies. As far as non-restaurant sushi goes it’s pretty great. Except for this roll. I got a california roll with brown rice and sesame seeds. The rice was extremely gooey and mushy. The insides were still good at least.

Finished off my day out with a Bville Diner trip. After craving meat and solid food for the past couple of days I have no idea why I got a cheese omelette with potatoes and toast. My obsession with breakfast food (technically this was brinner) is legendary and a little ironic. I’m a total night owl and rarely ever eat breakfast when its supposed to be eaten. This is probably explains my frequent diner trips. That and Syracuse has 0 places to hang out at past 11 pm that aren’t bars. Not that I have a problem with bars or anything, bars just have a problem with me not being 21 (3 months and 2 days to go ya’ll!)

Nautical By Nature

I was forced to spend my afternoon in a Hobby Lobby. There were only two ways for me to turn that day around: Panera and a solo movie date. P.S. The Avengers is wonderful. I want all of them.

What I wore:

Today’s mirror picture is brought to you by Hobby Lobby! The lady behind me was sooo pissed that I stopped to take a picture at every single mirror.

Shirt – Forever 21

Shorts – Forever 21

I should be on a boat. I should get boat shoes. I should need more friends with boats.

Scarf – Clutch

I own too many scarves. But I don’t own enough lightweight ones. This needs to change.

What I ate:

As a reward for surviving an afternoon in Hobby Lobby, I had Panera for dinner. The freshness of this lemonade deserved its own solo photo in the sun.

Caesar salad and a swiss, ham, tomato, and lettuce sandwich on rye. I did choose a baguette, because you know how Panera does it. Too bad my parents got to it while I went to the bathroom. I’m over it. I always doubt the amount of salad dressing they give me in that tiny little cup. It somehow does the job. When the cashier asked me if I wanted mayo or mustard on my sandwich I said neither. She looked at me like I was insane. Sorry I hate mayo and that I’m not a fan of mustard on its own. Yeah, I’m that kind of person.

And for desert, strawberries! They were gigantic and the perfect ripeness. Some chocolate would’ve been phenomenal but I can’t have it all. I’m perfectly happy with perfect strawberries all on their own.

Tribal prints, sushi dates, and dinosaurs.

Let’s be honest, Tuesdays are the most boring day of the week. Everyone collectively hates Mondays, Wednesday is the hump of the week, Thursday is pre-weekend or thirsty Thursday for the college kids, and bam the weekend is just 100% enjoyable. I have managed to try and make Tuesdays awesome with Tuesday Boozeday. It’s ok to drink on any day of the week as long as it has a cute name (Sunday Funday, erm Monday sucks enough so it’s ok to drink that day, TUESDAY BOOZEDAY, wasted wednesday, thirsty Thursday, and welp Friday & Saturday are just self explanatory.) Ok ok ok, I don’t drink on EVERY single Tuesday, but if I’m not drinking then someone else better be. Tuesday boozeday – it’s gonna be a thing. Spread the word.

Unfortunately I am still unemployed and incredibly broke so no Tuesday boozeday this week 😦 So the next best thing to make Tuesdays enjoyable are getting together with my fellow bored friends!

What I wore:

Knit sweater – Forever 21

Romper – Forever 21

Purse – H&M

Overall this outfit makes me feel like a tribal hippie. And it’s just so goddamn comfy!

Sandals – Aldo

These are some awesome statement sandals. P.S. those aren’t cool anklets, those are attached to my sandals!

Bracelet/Ring – H&M

Hands down (no pun intended) the coolest bracelet I own. Bracelets are hard for me to pull off because I have sticks for wrists. I can only wear chain bracelets, and the plus side to this one is that it’s attached to my finger which make it impossible for it to slip off!

I’m not sure if my hair sucks, or if I just suck at making buns…oh well it won’t stop me from throwing my hair up into one.

Okay be honest, do these sunglasses make me look like a bitch or do I just have a bitch face? Maybe cat eye frames are supposed to create the illusion of a bitch face. I could use some extra sass and fierceness anyways. I’m completely okay with this.

What I ate:

I met up with my friends aka my ex roomie and my future roomie at Carousel mall. We all happen to work there or live incredibly close to it. And I should be honest, my life has kind of revolved around a mall since I was 13. I’ve evolved from a teeny bopper mall rat to mall employee. Anyways – we went to Koto for some sushi. So far Koto is one of the best sit down restaurants in the mall. It’s fairly fancy compared to everything else and their prices are pretty cheap.

I ordered an Angel Hair roll (left) that had shrimp tempura, cream cheese, and avocado inside with crab meat, eel sauce, and spicy mayo on the top. Basically it was a super shrimp tempura roll (which is one of my all time faves.) I’m usually not a fan of cream cheese in my sushi. But since there was so much else going on I didn’t really notice it. And of course, whenever I decide to try something new I always order a back up roll that I know I’ll love. You can call me lame but California rolls are among my favorite sushi rolls.

Of course since I’m a mall employee and basically know everyone who works there, one of my friends who’s a bus boy at Koto invited me to Dinosaur BBQ to go listen to his friend perform  after his shift (P.S. go check out Ben Fiore, he’s pretty awesome.) Let’s be honest, I was born and raised in Syracuse – Dinosaur BBQ was going to get brought up sooner or later. Gotta love the rough and tough biker gang atmosphere. The whole “I’m gonna kick your ass if you even look at my old lady” biker attitude is pretty contagious. Even little old cream puff me feels tougher while I hang around here.

Even my broke ass was able to afford something crazy delish. You really can’t go wrong with a pulled pork sandwich. It already came with their special BBQ sauce, but I drowned it in more of it anyways. It’s that damn good. I probably looked like a crazed carnivore biting into this smoky, lovely, porky goodness.
